Dear Professor McGonagall,
It is always wondrous for me to see how you have cared for someone who was never very expressive about his feelings, understood when he needed something or when he was just upset without letting others know, so much that I always go back to the chapters of the books or the
scenes from the movies to feel how good it would have been if I had a mother like you've been to Harry. The journey of Harry Potter for me came late but was the best. And one of my favourite reasons to come back to the stories is because the way you were always being patient with Harry. From being protective about him when he was being brought by Hagrid to the Dursleys, offering him a ginger newt biscuit when he was sent off by Umbridge and was in an extremely bad mood, to standing by his side for his dream to be an auror in the Ministry of Magic even if it was the last thing you'd do in your life and supporting him when he went against Snape to fight the Dark Lord.
Professor, you have made me imagine a world of my own where I have you as my mother, where I would not have to hide my sadness and anger in the fear of losing people, where I could just sleep on your lap after a long, exhausting day. No matter how far Hogwarts is, I still feel you, I still feel the subtle care and affections in the pages. When my friend sends me pictures of his favourite parts from the book, I stare at the pictures for a long, long time. I don't think, I don't cry, I don't imagine, I just close my eyes and try to feelif all those things could happen with me too.But the best part is, knowing that the journey with you will never end. I can always re-read how you had sent Harry to class when he would rather spend time with Ron in idle play. I'll always remember the smile exchange when you bought Harry his coveted Nimbus 2000 broomstick and how confidently Harry went to you to ask you to sign his consent to visit Hogsmeade as his guardian. I'll always go back to them.
And more than Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley, more than Hermione Granger and Severus Snape, Sirius Black and Oliver Wood, I would always love you. After all those times.
